The Great Commission
"And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, 'All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.' Amen."
- Matthew 28:18-20
"For to live is Christ and to die is gain"
Our story began with the Son of God and His twelve chosen men having the desire to preach the Gospel and make disciples everywhere they walked. Filled with the Holy Spirit and their Teacher's vision, twelve men shook the earth by obeying this commission and setting the example made by Jesus Christ, even when faced with persecution and death. They lived confidently, reserving their fear only for God, saying:
“O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?”
The mission: take Scarborough for Jesus
Fueled by the same desire and willingness to lay down life for the Gospel that Christ and His Apostles carried, the people of the Potter's House Church of Scarborough live to obey Christ's command in their city, which is to: make disciples of all nations, baptize them in water and the Holy Spirit, and teach them to observe all of Christ's commands. These followers of Christ yearn for a powerful move of God, a revival, in their city and nation. It is their longing that entire generations in their land will hear, and eventually, breathe the Gospel to other lands by this commission.
"Let's go at once to take the land." (Numbers 13:30).
It is God's desire that all men are drawn to His salvation through the discovery of their sin. Beyond that, it is His desire that all men find Heaven as an eternal home through the preaching of the Gospel.
These same desires are planted into every disciple made, and these disciples are made also to disciple. There is no greater sense of fulfillment felt outside of winning souls for Jesus Christ.
